Louis Dazy

The Double Exposed Urban Portraits

French film photographer Louis Dazy captures double-exposed photos of individuals and urban settings. The currently Melbourne, Australia-based photographer has a knack for creating an ethereal world within his images, producing poignant shots that blend imagery and an appearance that merges worlds. Done in the darkroom and simply the film photo-taking process, Dazy double exposes his shots, unearthing images of friends and passerbys bathed in fluorescent light and emitting moods that sway between melancholy, pensivity and seduction.

Why I choose him?
He choose an interesting way to shoot for his photo which is double exposure. Multiple exposure is a superimposition of two or more exposure to create a single image, and double exposure has a corresponding meaning in respect of two images. The exposure values may or may not be identical to each other. So, here is a theme he choose to use which is individuals and urban setting. In his pictures, you can largely feel the emotions that what he want to express with the landscapes of urban setting. And he also make full use of the color of the night lighting that just nice to fit the emotions of the individual.

“Hunting for what’s left of Hong Kong’s iconic neon signs —  an essential element of this cityscape’s visual culture covering HK’s streets for years with glow — I roamed the dazzling roads aimlessly reminiscing about a dystopian past that only existed in neo-noire cult fiction movies like Blade Runner, trying to burn these lively picturesque streets in my memory before they vanish, all while figuring out how to thrive creatively in this organised chaos.”

-ZAKI ABDELMOUNIM

Oleg Oprisco

Photo with an old $50 Film Camera

Oleg Oprisco is a brilliantly talented photographer from Lviv, Ukraine, who creates stunning surreal images of elegant women in fairy-tale or dream-like settings. There’s one significant difference, however, that sets him apart from other artists who create similar work – Oprisco shoots using old-school film photography.

He is a fine art photographer and each of his photos is a scene from real life. That is the perfect source of inspiration for him as there is so much beauty in our everyday life. He will observe the world around him to inspire his next photograph. Of course he add many of his own changes to the reality, such as characters, props, location, and light… However, he is constantly involved in a search for inspiration and ideas.

Why i choose him ?
Oleg's work has its own artistic among other. His work is far from ''popular'', its quite the contrary. He shots landscapes, object, simple and no need to be think. His work is lightweight, and it carries no need to thought. His pictures effect emotions and feeling of happiness, sadness or admiration, not included a specific message. His work can be viewed on both emotional and thought-provoking levels. Viewer can either admire the color. shape and light or he can deeper search for the meaning that Oleg wanted to show.

The fairy tale pictures created WITHOUT Photoshop: Artist uses film and his imagination to create spellbinding world in real life.

Captured using Kiev 6C and Kiev 88 medium format cameras, Oleg uses a variety of lenses to get the effect he desires.
With twelve shots captured to each roll of film, he’s also unable to review the captured photographs until the film is developed. While the photographs are not created using Photoshop, he does admit to using them to digitally modify the images. Not to create the sets or resize the props, merely to correct the colouring in the final images and remove specks of dust from the frame.

STEPHEN MCMENNAMY

He was born in Marietta Georgia, but he formative years took place in jungles of Southeast Asia. When he was 2, the family packed up and they moved to the Philippines where he spent some of the most tropical/volcanic/humid/rice-consuming years of his life. After that his family returned to our slightly less exotic existence back in the states. It is then cut to high-school where he quickly realized that he wasn't going to follow in the engineering footsteps of his father and grandfather, pursuing the path along the right side of his brain led him to the Savannah College of Art and Design where he spent some time exploring the world of fine art, but ultimately he decided to shift gears and explore the world of fine advertising. This brought him back to Atlanta where he entered the Creative Circus as a designer, but exited an art director. He was lucky enough to work for Jerry CroninJerry Cronin took him under his meaty wing for several years where they ended up doing two agency stints together. He learned everything good about advertising from Jerry. Jerry taught him a lot of good stuff, valuable lessons were learned. All these years later, he still enjoying the advertising ride.

One of interesting Stephen Mcmennamy work on instagram is #combophoto. Which is using the ideas of juxtaposition by mixing two kinds of photo to create a new photo. Both photo used does not need to be related but must be linkabled. He combines pictures which elements that composed it have in theory nothing in common. Result is perfectly executed and give some humorous compositions.
